Dunlop BeltsDunlop precision drives are constructed using a unique building technique developed and patented by Dunlop (Patent No. 1286531). The belts have moulded teeth that make positive engagement with the axial grooves in a smooth, rolling manner with minimal friction. Thus, they function in a very similar manner to the teeth on the gear and indeed in many respects in both the engineering and the nomenclature of these belts parallel those of chain and gear drives. There is in fact, a similar relationship between an internal ring gear and its pinion. The importance of the tooth profile cannot be over stressed and is the result of many years of research and development carried out before the first Dunlop precision Drive belts were marketed. The tensile members within the belts are key to the enormous tensile strength and high resistance to the elongation of the belt and give the Dunlop precision drive belt its excellent flex life. Nylon Facing – The teeth are covered with a tough, wear resistant nylon fabric. The protection it offers is comparable to the protection the wearing surfaces of steel gets from case hardening. Polychloroprene Teeth – The specially profiled teeth are moulded integrally with the backing and are made from a moderately hard polychloroprene compound with the necessary sheer resistant characteristics. Polychloroprene backing – The load carrying tensile members are encased in a strong wear resisting polychloroprene compound that is bonded to them. All Dunlop V-Belts are anti-static and resistant to both heat & oil. All of Dunlop's manufacturing facilities are ISO 9002 certified. Every V-Belt which carries the Dunlop brand is capable of delivering the kind of performance that will satisfy the most demanding user.
